So after roughly about a day's worth of travel, I have finally made it to Haiti. The trip started off yesterday with an 8:20 AM EST flight out of BWI, but due to fuel pump issues ended up not leaving until close to 10 AM EST. Needless to say, I lost my connection from San Juan to Port Au Prince, so I spent the night in the lovely hotel/casino in the airport.
So left San Juan this morning on a 7 AM flight to arrive in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic followed be a connection into Port Au Prince. Arrived roughly around 9:15 and have felt in a whirlwhind since. Without understanding French this is proving to be a bit more difficult than anticipated, with only picking up every few words luckily to the Spanish I was forced to take most of my life. Recieved a cell phone and am now at the compound that is the CRS Haiti office. Had security briefings, meetings with HR, and am now in the conference room preparing for a 1 PM training...Go big or go home right?
Well cnjoy the photos of the view into Haiti:
