So the days continue in Port Au Prince. I was slightly overwhelmed with the information thrown at me yesterday as far as security, names, departments, data flow etc, but today seems to be going much better. I don't feel nearly as lost around the compound. I was given a cell, so now I have point of contacts to speak with and I'm feeling much better. It seems to be a bit lonely in that you have to be home or at dinner at 6 PM. Anything after 6 PM invovles a convoy of at least two cars with drivers, plus at least two people per car. On a separate note, you shouldn't take candy from strangers, yes that is part of my security warning and I am still laughing about it.
There are often random blackouts around here and terrential downpours. The weather is semi crazy, but it's still in the 90s and beautiful even during these occasions.
Taught three more successful trainings today and I met a really nice staff member in my last one. We have Thursday off at the office as it's a holiday here in Haiti, so I get to tag along to the beach in their convoy. I also got an invite to dinner which seems much better than the cliff bars that I have been living off of. Things are going well and now I have at least made a friend that I can talk to or well understand...the sad thing is I think I'm starting to understand French a bit. So I'll end this wonderful post with some more pics of what I'm seeing, these particularly are of our office here in Port Au Prince. Oh and a final plea, the night gets boring when you aren't allowed out after 9 PM, so please skype me at christin.tillett or well talk to me on gchat or something. Haha, wow I sound like a loser, but I kinda am right now. Ps. encourage youtube, hulu and netflix to stream overseas, I swear that will be my personal endevour the next several weeks!
